What are your comments on my girl Keyshia Cole's new song & Video?

This woman has been criticized by her "ghetto" actions, but when someone is talented, it overshadows a lot of negativity. She can Sang!!!!! Tell me what you think.

i agree with all of the comments and feel that we are extra hard on each other until it becomes negative and no longer constructive. i may not agree with everything i see but some of these shows are not as negative as they seem.

what some of these shows like american gangsta and black n america are doing is creating a dialogue and educating a generation that does not know about slavery, share cropping, civil rights struggles, jim crow or other major historic turning points in our countries past.

and then we have a show like black men revealed where the hosts (two live stews) hold there guest somewhat acccountable for comments made off air. that is obviously not a truely tight scripted show and people that i've talked to have problems with it. it's not as entertaining because as the hommies say, "i can go to the bahrba shop and hear dat." but then they say we need more shows that portray the real us.

I think shows like American Gangster aid in glorifying the black man in a light that America is comfortable with. I've watched it and it is definitely interesting and captivating but, wouldn't it more to our advantage to see shows about black men of honor? It supports the negavtivity we too often find glamorized in the videos. As Biggie put it "money, hoes, & clothes, that's all a nicca knows...". I think it would be much more beneficial to see shows about Dr. Ben Carson, Cheik Ante Diop, Arthur Ashe, but, then again what the hell does BET, VH1, or MTV care about people of color other than our ability to increase their bottom line?

i agree with what you are saying and they do show these types of men in black in america. what i mean by dialogue is everytime someone brings up american gangsta i always point to one thing. most of these guys had white employers that were never brought to justice. they have been convicted with no physical evidence of wrongful doing other than hearsay and police bigotry. this stops them in there tracks and they have to see the validity of racial injustice in our justice system.

they also tell a story of redemption of how these guys went to jail and try to make things right in the end. but these are real people, they have a simular show for whites called "the men and the machine," these guys were bananas compared to their black counterparts.

but trust me i do agree but their story has to be told as well because our brothas need to see how we always get caught and go to jaul whether they have the evidence or not to convict. because the gangsta bs has been picking up in alot of the big cities.
I love you my sister, but you are seriously mis-guided. I don't even have the strength to get into it right now. Maybe later. (sigh) Somebody shoot me in the head.

i love keyshia cole, she beautiful, sweet, curve (yes sir), and nurturing. her show was one of my favs, it showed what makes her such an awesome and beloved person. i know alot of people in rehab or that have family situations that are simular to hers that she gave hope to. at least she was able to finance her healing process many do not ever get that chance and have to deal with the reprecussions.

you can't put a price tag on hope it just goes to show that reality tv really has a brighter side to it.

That's how I feel about the show. And through the years, she really has worked on how she comes off on people. She is much more classier and her image has enhanced from when she first came out. Keyshia used to be gangsta with a nasty attitude!!!! But to see her transform is really amazing and it really shows that she is going to have longevity in the game. I can appreciate a sista like that...

the nonprofit that i work with is for susbstance abuse and people do not realize that the family members are the ones that really do the suffering and have the deepest linguring effects of the desease. it is called co-dependency and she had it bad, i just hope they all stay on course.

keyshia Cole? I've always loved this girl from the get go. even before "love", the first song that took her career up a notch. She displays a strong heart. and with everything that she went through, it just shows that she's well suited to be in the music industry. her lack of training, or even financial stability didn't stop her.

anyway, back to talking about her talent. Yes, no furthermore questions, she can sing. She has the tendency to shout though..It's normal. its very hard to sing like the way she does because she doesn't sing falsetto. always natural (except for background vocals) the downfall is that it could strain your voice in the long run and its hard to perform live. The reason why you have build up gradually when singing is to save all the strength for the powerful belting out parts. i won't be surprised if she lipsings. (Even Christina Aguilera does..EVERYONE! yes.. even mariah.)

I'm just wondering...to what standard do you hold Keyshia Cole up to when you say things like, "She can sang!!!!" or "I am so glad people can recognize great talent"? Because for me, the standards are women like Aretha Franklin. On her best day, Keyshia Cole couldn't sing as well as Re Re on Re Re's worst. Hopefully my next question doesn't steam you up, but how old are you? I'm not saying she can't sing. But the word "great" is as powerful a word as to only be used when you really mean it, like LOVE or HATE. Example: Ray Charles = greatness, Jamie Foxx (after singing all those Ray Charles songs) = very good(and that's only singing ability I'm talkin' about...not lyrics).
