This freestyle right here is one of the SICKEST freestyles I've ever heard and it's why Jay-Z is on top of his game. When I heard it on Grammy night, I was shaking my head then. What do you think? And can you spit like Jay? Is this really a freestyle?

The thing that sets him apart from most is he feels no need to correct or judge. At this point it's the full circle of Reasonable doubt. The "I'm the smartest dude in a room and here's why" aesthetic if you will. And there's been no significant fall-off. Brilliant

Yeah an above average spit by Jigga...freestyle or not it don't matter the lyrical content of that is astounding comin' from anyone in the game right now...

...he's not a Big or Pac like he notes, but some of the statements are reminiscent of Pac and even Big--business minded and spiritual...

but what he said though: I mean he's letting folks in on the corporate world and what is like on the streets when you do become successful. He's educating ppl about fame and the price of it. Like he said Boardroom I'm liftin ya skirt up: that to me means he's exposing them... He said corporate America wants him not just because he raps. And that's the thing: at some point, folks in this game got to speak, talk, and think on another level! Not to get money or endorsements or anything like that - it's to continue to show that rappers are not just rhymers...

You know what's sad about it is a lot of fans aren't even on an intellectual level high enough to appreciate lyricism like this. I know a lot of people that would be quick to dismiss this verse, but if you ask those same people to dissect the verse for meaning and technique, they couldn't do it. Not even one complete line.

if you stay in the same place you can't understand when things advance!!! Hov continues to advance with Hip Hop as it grows, as he grows, as we the hip hop civilians grow, both in age and in our love & dedication to this lifestyle!!! So many want HOV and other rappers to talk about the same stuff from years gone by, BUT they've moved on. TIME to grow up if you're a real hip hop head!

Agree or disagree JAY stays on his "A" game lyrically. These are words of advice for fans of hip hop.
